Overview

At FTI, we are united by one common mission; supporting those that protect our nation so they can make the best-informed decisions during critical moments when seconds count. We want you to bring your passion and expertise to contribute to that essential mission.  We strive to incorporate our values to create a culture of collaboration and trust, where you can share your ideas and innovate.  If you are inspired by making a positive impact through developing data driven solutions, FTI would appreciate the opportunity to learn more about you.

We’re looking for an experienced Advisory Surface Warfare Training and Policy SME to join our team supporting the Navy’s Surface Warfare Schools Command (SWSC). Their mission is clear: to prepare officers, engineers, and navigation professionals to serve aboard surface combatants and ensure the Navy’s global maritime advantage.

In this role, you’ll use your expertise to shape the future of Navy training. You’ll analyze data and training outcomes, define requirements, and recommend solutions and policy updates that directly strengthen surface warfighting proficiency. You’ll also work side-by-side with SWSC leadership to improve communication, guide knowledge sharing, and help advance the Mariner Skills Training Program’s data analytics tools. Collaboration with other Navy program offices will give you the opportunity to expand your impact across the fleet.

This is more than just a job—it’s a chance to take the next big step in your career while making a meaningful contribution to U.S. national security.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize the SEXTANT analytic tool to inform responses to higher authority tasking and prepare Flag Officer level briefing material and policy recommendations in alignment with organization priorities and official response documents.
  • Coordinate with FTI team members to ensure the effective development of analytic tools to support the delivery of solutions.
  • Coordinating with SWSC instructors and academic leads to facilitate the conduct of policy research and collaborate with Navy Training leadership on messaging and policy.
  • Collaborate with data scientists in creating predictive models.
  • Partner with software developers to create and modify visualizations and dashboard views.
  • Interpret qualitative/quantitative data to determine impacts on Navy Training and Policy.
  • Develop briefs, documentation, and presentations to inform Navy Training leadership decisions.

Education/Qualifications

Required:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen with U.S. Dept. of Defense active SECRET clearance.
  • Ability to work 100% at the Surface Warfare Schools Command in Newport, RI.
  • 10+ years of experience in Navy Training, Navy Navigation, Navy Program Oversight and Execution, Navy Leadership/Command, and/or Navy Policy changes and recommendation roles.
  • Experience preparing and presenting senior leadership briefings and papers.
  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with MS PowerPoint at creating high level briefs with imbedded graphics and charts.
  • Proficient with MS Excel.
  • Proficient with MS Power Point.
  • Proficient with SharePoint Online.

Preferred:

  • Former Naval Senior Officer experienced with an understanding of US Navy training processes and policy impacts.
  • Operations Research Analyst background.
  • Experience with O1-O6 Officer detailing.
