Overview

FTI Defense is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Network/Cyber Engineer to join our dynamic team. This position requires experience with Special Access Program (SAP) working with Risk Management Frameworks and accreditations of operational systems. A keen attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and solid knowledge base are essential. The Enterprise Ground Services (EGS) program office is supporting a Ground Command & Control (C2) Software Integration Engineer to support EGS integration with Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) ground systems and other US Space Force (USSF) mission areas. Qualified candidates must possess an active Top Secret or TS/SCI clearance and be in or willing to relocate to Colorado Springs, CO.

Responsibilities

  • Determine whether the program works with Government and support functions to provide guidance, interpretation, assessment and recommendations on development and cloud security best practices above and beyond operating system level NIST 800-53 controls.
  • Aid Government Security Control Assessor (SCAs) in developing methods to monitor and measure risk, compliance, and assurance efforts across the enterprise.
  • Evaluate the Government’s implementation of a Risk Management Framework (RMF).
  • Evaluate DevSecOps process, agile methodology and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline to ensure cybersecurity requirements are baked-in early during
    development.
  • Identify and provide remediation recommendations on weaknesses in configurations of various system components including software to reduce risk to acceptable level.
  • Evaluate implementation of cross domain solutions technologies and the security of the configuration and ruleset.
  • Rate the program’s specifications that are designed to ensure risk, compliance, and assurance efforts conform with security, resilience, and dependability requirements at the software application, system, and network environment level.
  • Rate statements of preliminary or residual security risks for system operation drafted by the government.
  • Grade the government’s ability to catalog approved IATTs, ATCs, and ATOs.
  • Evaluate a system's compliance with information technology (IT) security, resilience, and dependability requirements as defined by RMF implementation guidance.
  • Assess the effectiveness of security controls.
  • Rate the government’s security reviews and their ability to identify security gaps in security architecture resulting in recommendations for inclusion in the risk mitigation strategy.
  • Able to follow established protocols and develop new procedures to deploy integrated systems.
  • Able to analyze requirements and integrate functionality Infrastructure as Code mentality
  • Troubleshoot issues and provide solutions 
  • Strive to decrease overall latency in development and deployment cycles by applying DevOps/DevSecOps best practices 
  • Experience working with DevOps/DevSecOps toolchain products, including Ansible/Chef/Puppet, Artifactory, Jenkins, GIT
  • Knowledge of / familiar with containerization concepts (OpenShift, Docker)
  • Sufficient familiarity with network technologies (routing, firewalls, VLANs) to be able to troubleshoot connectivity issues
  • Being a champion of infrastructure as code, deployment automation, test automation, and configuration management process
  • Able to work in a team environment with minimal supervision
  • Desire to obtain new skills and be a mentor for junior team members
  • Experience performing deployments into an operational environment
  • Familiar with integration environment security/vulnerability tools, and experience securing the integration environment configuration and enforcing security policies
  • Experience implementing modern IT solutions in compliance with U.S. Government and DoD Cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST/DoD RMF/DISA STIG and SRG)
  • Travel 20%

Education/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Sciences, Engineering or related field required (Master’s degree preferred)
  • 10+ years of experience with cyber and network systems
  • Understanding of Space Force ground architectures, to include Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) ground systems (desired)
  • Experience with Platform as a Service (PAAS) 
  • Experience with Linux infrastructures, database SQL (MS SQL), CI/CD tools, scripting such as Python, Perl, Ruby, Scrum/Kanban/SAFe, Agile workflow methodologies 
  • Hands-on experience with building and managing release systems, code merging and promotion, and CI/CD workflows and tools 
  • Experience with CloudFormation, Chef, Puppet, Salt, or Ansible in production environments 
  • Experience with revision control source code repositories (Git, SVN, Mercurial, Perforce)
  • Experience working with and delivering using Agile practices
  • Monitoring experience with Splunk, Elk, Kibana, Grafana, etc.
  • Previous experience with infrastructure development, or development and operations
  • Experience with development and automated testing
  • Good interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Ability to work independently with geographically dispersed team
  • Must have an active Top Secret or TS/SCI clearance.

For this role, the compensation range for candidates in Colorado is $113K- $190K.  Note: Starting pay will be based on a number of factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience. FTI has a location-based compensation structure; there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
